What do the Voting Records mean?
If a legislator got four "plus" (+) signs they are likely to be pro-woman on most issues. But the floor votes are not necessarily representative of all MN NOW's issues. This year, the House avoided floor votes on the most controversial social issues (abortion, gay rights, etc.) by handling them in committee; the close floor votes were on spending for low-income women and families. The Senate did have votes on some controversial social issues on the floor, but almost all spending votes were in committee. As a result, none of the votes in the House and Senate record are on exactly the same issue.
Positions on Choice
In the Senate, anyone who voted against the Senate President's ruling that the "informed Consent" bill was not germane is probably anti-choice. If you think your Senator is pro-choice, but they voted against the ruling, ask them to explain this vote.
