Editorial: Because I, too, believe in the right to life
By Lucy Smith Because I, too, believe in the right to life, I cherish all the creatures of the Creator; the very big and the very small such as the elephants or ants, those who live in the forests, those who live in the water and those who live in the desert. Because I am for right to life, I want to protect their habitats from human intrusion and pollution. Because I am for life, I observe deeds of Great Mother Nature and learn from her that life is a possibility, not a guarantee, and that all creatures depend on each other for their survival. Even when they satisfy their hunger at each other's expense, they respect each specie's habitat and boundary and limit each other from a boundless expansion which would endanger all creatures. Only the people do not respect such limits. Because I am for life, I will not support or vote for those who claim to be for the right to life, but advocate unlimited expansion of the human species to the detriment of all other creatures of the Great Creator. They lack respect not only for other creatures, but also for females of their own human species. They do not trust that their females, like the females of other species, have a wisdom of knowing when is the best time for having children, and what is the right number of children they can safely raise to adulthood. By expanding without limits and advocating their own superiority over the rest of creation, by overusing the bounty of Nature and destroying it, by cutting the forests, emptying and polluting the seas, those "religious" advocates of THEIR right to life are neither religious nor for life. Because I am for life, I oppose those who, while advocating the right to life, liberally distribute the death penalty and execute the prisoners who were not given their right to due process; were neither provided with good defenders, nor given possibility to prove their innocence. Because I am for life I oppose those whose greatest concern seems to be an unnecessary and wasteful military buildup against a non-existing enemy, while claiming their right to life. They do it now, in that splendid historical moment when the people of the Earth are beginning to see others not as enemies but as allies with whom, together, they can solve many problems, common to all. Because I am for life I hope that the people of the world will learn how to recognize the hypocrites, the bullies and the madmen of the world and learn how to stop them before they are powerful. Because I am for life I will not vote for those who advocate right to life, but care more for their right to carry guns than for the life of already born children. Because I love children and consider my right for self-determination to be part of my right to life, I'll vote for those who advocate peace expansion and perfection instead of arm expansion and perfection. If you like your right to a free and peaceful life I hope that you'll vote with me. |
