Letter to the Editor
MN NOW needs an executive director I believe that MN NOW should hire an Executive Director because: 1. NOW should have a commitment to see that womens work is compensated fairly. NOW wants companies to value womens work; NOW should do the same. 2. NOW should recognize that times have changed, partly due to the womens movement, partly due to economics. The fact is that most women are now employed full-time and do not have the time to devote to volunteer work. That means that in order for the work to be done, it is necessary to pay someone to do it. MN NOW has been relying upon a few key individuals to volunteer on a full-time basis. And some very special women have been willing to do it because of their commitment to the cause. But the time has come for a change, because the ends do not justify the means. Pam Oddi |
